How to Make a Dragonfly
Posted on: August 27, 2011
A Dragonfly is a simple mixed drink recipe. It is ideal for those who have little bartending experience and wish to serve mixed cocktails at a party or other gathering. There are only two ingredients used to create this drink, ginger ale and gin. Ginger ale is used in a variety of mixed drink recipes as the mixer, or primary non-alcoholic ingredient.
Gin is produced from several grains such as rye, barley and wheat. It is flavored primarily by the juniper berry and a variety herbs and spices. Gin may be best known for its place in the classic drink, the martini. In a martini, gin is mixed with white vermouth, poured into its signature glass and commonly served with an olive. During the days of prohibition, gin was commonly made by using juniper berry extract and raw alcohol. It did not require an aging process and could be made quickly. Because the taste was less than desirable, many began mixing it with other beverages and creating gin cocktails. http://www.tastings.com/spirits/gin.html
